Some bloggers have commented on the eerie similarity between the fight and the scene in Rocky 4 where an older Apollo Creed is shaken from this mortal coil. Sheesh, people, relax. Valuev could fight with eggs on his fists and nary a shell would get cracked… the Thomas Hauser piece following a big fight is indispensable for all fight fans. His piece on the Pacquaio-De La Hoya fight is now available on the SecondsOut website and, as usual, it is a must read…I was surprised that Hauser alluded to the controversial photos of De La Hoya decked out in fishnet stockings. De La Hoya has claimed the photos are faked, but the prostitute who took the photos of a cross dressing Golden Boy was paid a handsome sum, apparently, to disappear. The fact that Hauser, a circumspect and dignified writer, saw fit to mention the snapshots seems to be a tip-off to his conclusion concerning their authenticity…classic headline from The Onion reads, “Overconfident Big Brown Parties All Night Before Belmont”.
