Well Armed & Soldier Set To Rally In Cali
Breeders Marathon - DELIGHTFUL KISS appears to be set for a peak effort. He ran back to his June 07 top last out and the four year old looks sufficiently happy and fit to have an impact in here. Sixties Icon adds Lasix and retains Dettori. It is a mystery how he, and many others, will handle the plastic Santa Anita surface, but he is the class horse in the field.
Breeders Turf Sprint - Long shot parade is possible in a race with deceptive form. The extra half furlong is going to play havoc with some of the faint hearted. STORM TREASURE is in a nice place in his form cycle. The Asmussen trained five year old will appreciate the extra real estate and benefits from a meaningful change in jocks. Rouse The Cat and Diabolical also look to be a pair set to be ferocious in the lane.
Breeders Dirt Mile - WELL ARMED should boss this mish mash of ones who cram into this rarely used stateside distance. America does not have dirt milers, as is apparent by a casual perusal of this field. Ones eager to take part but not talented enough for the high profile races congregate here. Albertus Maximus and Surf Cat appear threats.
Breeders Mile - GOLDIKOVA should be a most punctual winner. Only questions about the ground and heat are a concern for the brilliant daughter of Anabaa. Whatsthescript should have a vigorous pace to run at, while Kip Deville’s last is too bad to be true.
Breeders Cup Juvenile - MIDSHIPMAN has been pointed to this affair by Bob Baffert and the silver haired Californian is anxious to return to the spotlight. This talented runner could have a breakthrough performance today with the screws finally tightened. Square Eddie looked marvelous demolishing a good field at Keenland and must be used. Munnings circled back to his top in his latest and is a threat to move forward.
Breeders Juvenile Turf - There a re people who watched the Summer Stakes from Woodbine, and those who did not. People who watched it are eager to hammer GRAND ADVENTURE who looked like Sam Sons next great runner while closing out in the middle of the lawn, the rider without his whip. Bittel Road represents a serious challenge while Westphalia is the dangerous Irish presence.
Breeders Cup Sprint - Shoddy crew hurt by the absence of the ladies. STREET BOSS is fresh and can double top in here. Cost Of Freedom also has a run on the surface and can renew acquaintances with the choice. Three year old Fatal Bullet continues to improve. It will be interesting to see how he handles this group of older sprinters.
Breeders Cup Turf - SOLDIER OF FORTUNE is a standout, the day’s best. His preparation looks note perfect and he is a far superior runner than the other shippers. Winchester was emphatic while garnering the Grade 1 Secretariat by open lengths and now tries his elders. Eagle Mountain can pick up the pieces.
Breeders Classic - TIAGO is fresh and fond of the surface, possibly ingredients for a monumental upset. Curlin has had a long campaign and could be vulnerable at a mile and a quarter on a new surface. The legendary competitor simply isn’t worth the short odds. I’ll take a stand against the Europeans in here and try Go Between in the mix.
