Her Sugar Is Raw

..to understand Madonna you must see one of her shows. It’s that simple. The media savages the tiny blond with a bloodlust particular to her alone. And virtually everything they say about her is grossly distorted. She is simply gorgeous, with a magnificent body, and her show in Toronto on Sunday was a passionate masterpiece. She yelled, “Sing along, I need some company!”, and the sold out crowd roared as requested. Madonna was aggressive and committed from the outset, blaring “I want some noise!” a mere five minutes into the show. Her current personal issues were the backdrop as she yelled, “I’m not your bitch!” The audience was convulsive, up and dancing, screaming and yelling; cheering what may have been one of the great performances of the Michigan native’s career. The show was just spectacular. In order to sustain her “superstar” status Madonna is willing to work harder than anybody else, and her energy and vigour were astonishing as she rocked through a two hour show. And you know what? Her songs are fantastic, from Vogue to Human Nature, Borderline to Hung Up, Into the Groove to Heatbeat, her catalogue is thrilling. I cannot understand most Can Lit poets, but every song from Madge is intelligible and spoken with a plainness suitable to soothing the broken hearted or inspiring the latent rogue. Last night, in Toronto, I fell in love…Bernard Hopkins shocked everybody but us with his virtuoso performance Saturday night against Kelly Pavlik. The fight was just such a poor choice by Pavlicks brain trust. The Youngstown native had no upside and instead spent the weeks preceding the fight debating what round he would score the inevitable knockout. This is such a dangerous scenario, overlooking a dangerous foe, and we were delighted to advise you to take the generous 3-1 odds…
